Unique experience for your school ski course. Fascinating and historic
city. Ski 2 great areas during the week
If you've skied in Innsbruck you will get the picture - a beautiful city
with fantastic skiing right next door. Quebec is a fascinating city with
more to offer than an average ski resort and there's no skiing experience
like it in North America. Like any big city there's plenty of museums, galleries,
shopping malls, sports centres, restaurants and bars to keep you busy, but
what sets this wonderful city apart from the rest is its sense of history.
Old Quebec, at the heart of the city, is North America's only walled city
and is a world heritage site. 17th and 18th century houses line the winding,
narrow streets. The city has a real French feel to it and it's a great base
for school ski courses. In the evening there's a real atmosphere and the
après ski is completely different to anywhere else you will have
been. You'll enjoy the great shopping, lively nightlife and stunning views
of the St Lawrence River. You can even take a ferry ride on an icebreaker
as it smashes it way across the river. The spectacular "L'Astral"
revolving restaurant is another "must do" and we can organise
for you to swap a meal for an Earlybird dinner at this famous restaurant,
at the top of the Concorde hotel, takes 11/2hrs to revolve through 360 degrees
and the views over the city at sunset are truly spectacular.
You will get to ski in 2 resorts; Stoneham (20mins), Mont-Ste-Anne (40mins).
Our hotels are located either in the fantastic shopping district of Ste
Foy or in Vieux Quebec the historic heart of the city where the shops are
open until 9pm every day. Both are excellent for a school ski course and
are well known for the quality of their learning slopes, good quality snow
(backed up with impressive snowmaking) and extensive night skiing. Most
of the runs are for beginners and intermediates and the ski tuition is top
quality, but experts won't be disappointed. There are some terrific runs
to push you all week. It's a great place to learn and enjoy a multi-facetted
winter experience. In this venue, one of the most charismatic cities in
North America, non-skiers will have as much fun as skiers!

TORONTO AND NIAGARA FALLS STOPOVER
Swap a days skiing for an overnight stay in Toronto and visit the awe inspiring
Niagar Falls. We include 6x4hr ski lessons split between Stoneham (3days)
and Mont St Anne (3 days)
Stoneham Canada (3 days skiing)
A favourite amongst local families for its warm and sunny climate the skiing
at Stoneham is split over 4 mountains in a horseshoe valley that protects
all the runs from the elements. The sunny, well-groomed pistes are popular
with families and school groups and most of the terrain is ideal for beginners
and intermediates. Stoneham has 2 of the 4 areas floodlit from top to bottom
right through to 10pm every evening and the ski school keeps operating right
until the lights are turned off. At the base of the mountain there is a
dedicated learn-to-ski area with a moving carpet so that even novices experience
will have the best possible start. The progression is good as well, with
a number of long greens and blues from top to bottom. Experts have their
own "extreme" area on mountain No. 4 with a number of specially
designed runs." The brilliant snowmaking, covers 95% of the runs and
the grooming is first class. Queues are virtually non-existent. Stoneham
recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Mont Ste Anne Canada (3 days skiing)
Mont Ste Anne, the no.1 ski resort in eastern Canada, is the larger of the
two areas and has the most challenging and varied skiing. Its snow record
is fantastic but like everywhere in North America there is great snowmaking
as a back up. Many of the slopes stay open till 10pm and the ski school
keeps operating right until the lights are turned off. The skiing is North
and South facing, with spectacular views of the St Lawrence River. At the
base of the mountain the nursery slopes are served by 2 easy drags and some
lovely trails at the mid station. Progression is excellent. Beginners can
work their way higher up the mountain as their skill and confidence progresses
and there's even a moving carpet for beginners on the mountain summit. The
long runs will offer your group a real sense of achievement come the end
of the week. Intermediates have a great choice of runs that cover the whole
mountain. Experts will be pleased to hear that there are a number of steep
blacks and World Cup runs (they host the World Junior Championships) and
seven new trails have recently been carved out creating a new expert glade
area for extreme skiers called 'The Black Forest'. The whole resort has
an air of professionalism about it and everything works like clock work.
The lift system is well-planned and the piste grooming is first class.
