Ski America

Alberta, Jasper

Set in the Jasper National Park, Marmot Basin is one of the most beautiful and unique ski resorts of the Rockies. With dramatic towering mountain peaks, untouched slopes and powder snow, it will appeal to skiers and boarders alike. Marmot Basin offers a fantastic variety of skiing and boarding without the crowds. The small 19th century town of Jasper is unspoilt and charming, consisting of stone houses, clapboard cottages, a steeple church and is only 20 minutes from the mountain.

Marmot Basin is a truly all-round resort with tree-line skiing, deep powder-filled bowls and long, wide runs virtually untouched by anyone else. It's a fantastic resort for beginners who will progress naturally on the lower slopes to the wide uncrowded blue cruisers, perfecting their technique with the short runs between the trees. There's plenty of mileage for intermediates who start the week skiing on the lower tree-lined slopes before venturing further up the mountain. The modern lift system allows the freedom to explore the variety of terrain from glade-skiing to testing black runs, such as "Surfers" and "Exhibition".

Expert skiers will enjoy the Eagle Ridge area, previously accessed only by hiking but now serviced by the Eagle Ridge Quad chair. Here you will find prime tree-skiing, two huge bowls, chutes and gullies, all filled with untracked powder. Snowboarders are also well catered for, with their very own free-ride park, offering table tops, rails and a quarter pipe, not to mention all the back bowls available with plenty of powder snow!

There are a bundle of evening activities, including ice skating on frozen lakes, horse drawn sleigh rides and there's also a local cinema and Aquatic Centre. In addition there are a cluster of shops, museums, pubs and restaurants, not to mention the wildlife that just wanders around the town! The locals are extremely friendly and the town is only a 20 minute drive away from the mountain!
